As a busy single mother of a very active school-ager, Monique Williams, MA, CPLC, balances quite a few hats with her private practice and her personal life. She is an author, entrepreneur, educator, public speaker, girls high school basketball coach, community volunteer, and PTO Executive who is constantly making moves!
During her studies for her Master of Arts in Human Services: Marriage and Family Counseling, Monique focused her work on the study of women and the support needed to help families experience growth and resilience through transitions (e.g., divorce or separation, changes and losses, and family structure). In addition to her personal and professional experience, Monique boasts advanced training and certification as a Cognitive Behavioral Coach. She is also certified in various programs including parenting education, relationship enrichment, positive psychology, and purpose and passion development.
When Monique launched Beginnings Family Enrichment, LLC (BFE) in 2015, she developed her services to best utilize her more than 15 years experience as a counseling professional to serve children and adolescents, families, and women with trauma histories, mental health needs, and behavioral and emotional dysregulation that impacted multiple social systems, such as courts, schools, and child welfare. Her experience and training afforded her great opportunities to share her knowledge and skills with others, nationally and internationally.
What prompted Monique to shift her gears from not only counseling women and families in at-risk situations to focusing on women’s empowerment and coaching, was the realization that many professional women identified challenges within their own relationships or support systems, endured struggles within their own life transitions, and lacked consistent self-care in their own lives too. In essence, many women attending the professional development workshops she facilitated explored their own unhealthy decision- making, questioned their parenting practices, felt dissatisfaction in life, and held doubt about their life, career, or next moves. For Monique, this revelation meant it was time to help women to "normalize" their experiences and take action to remove their barriers to their thriving life by providing them with the strategies, resources, and confidence to overcome adversity, setbacks, trials, overwhelm, and doubt so that they can live their best life!
Girlfriends Chat launched during this time when Monique put together her first Girlfriends Weekend Retreat in 2016, and her "girlfriends" continued to grow from there! Monique's philosophy is simple: help women let go of negative thinking so that they can gain clarity to achieve their goals and fulfill their purpose, establish self-care as a priority in their daily life routine, and to create balance between life, work, and family so that they can achieve elevated growth and success.
